My Trip to Belize Most Adventureous Vacation
Destination visited: Belize
Activities included: Birdwatching, Scuba Diving, Sea Kayaking, Walking
We traveled to Placencia first, staying at Kitty’s place. We had a beach cabana that was fantastic. Took a snorkeling trip out to Laughing Bird Caye where lunch of fresh caught yellow fin snapper, rice and beans were served. Met people there who camped for 4 days and loved it!
Placencia 2 nights Kittys Place/beachfront cabana
Jaguar Paw Jungle Resort 2 nights (1 hour west from Belize Muncipal airport)
Ramon’s Village 3 nights beachfront king room
We traveled via Tropic air from Belize International to Placencia and from Belize Municipal to Ambergris Caye. Flying over the reef was spectacular!
While staying at the Jaguar Paw Jungle Resort we had a private hike with us through the jungle for about an hour and a half, explaining all plant life and survival in the jungle as well as plants used for medicianl purpose. We then tubed back down river through caves, wearing miner lights on our heads. I have never experienced an excursion like this!
While staying on Ambergis Caye, I snorkled and my husband did a lot of diving. He said it was the most incredible diving he’s ever seen. We snorkeled in shark alley and say Morea eels, nurse sharks and stingrays. Before arriving at shark alley the natives we were with stopped to do some spear fishing and fed the sharks right from our boat!
Belize was the most beautiful, unspoiled, untouched vacation I’ve seen before I experienced the caribbean 25 years ago.
Accomodations were great. Private bathrooms with running water and toilets in all. Food in all of the hotels we stayed in was wonderful. Staying at Ramon’s Village on Ambergris Caye allowed us to walk into town either via foot, bicycle or golf carts.
Extremly laid back. Pack only shorts, two pair of sneakers (one to where in the water if you go into the jungle), bathing suits, suncreen and bug spray (which we hardly used). We traveled in March of 1999. The owners of The Jaguar Paw Resort, Cy Young and Donna Young really made you feel at home in their home.
